A selection of technical activities which ComSym staff have been involved in is discussed below. Please contact us for additional information if you think that our skills and help your organisation succeed.

  • Various analysis and modelling contracts, for the accommodation of analogue, digital and mixed (e.g. Simulcast) video and audio broadcasts into various satellite transponders.
  • Many future payload systems studies - particularly advanced - generally multiple spot-beam - payload technologies such as OBP with asociated switching, MF-TDMA etc.
  • Study into the impact of different collocation strategies for geostationary systems on uplink and downlink performances.
  • Ka band performance study for advanced business services and DTH television payloads.
  • Study into on-board processing (regenerative) repeater design and a comparative evaluation of alternatives for spot-beam systems.

  • Initial payload design, performance analysis and proposal preparation or review for many manufactured geostationary spacecraft operating at L, C X, Ku and Ka bands.

  • Commissioning of various earth stations in a global maritime satellite system.
  • TCR subsystem design for two spacecraft missions, including CCSDS (and ESA PSS) compliant packet telecommand and telemetry systems.

  • Shared transponder modelling of multiple DVB carriers.
  • Various interference analysis studies using 'Visualyse'TM

  • Network architecture development and modelling for a multi-service military communication system (ATM, ISDN, LAN interconnect, analogue POTS and proprietary/military services).
  • Rationalisation study of a global operators network operations centre.
  • Specification of back-up network and spacecraft operations centres for a global operator.

  • LEOP, in-orbit test and commissioning of the OLYMPUS technology demonstration spacecraft payloads.
  • Payload resource management and network maintenance for the global satellite system operator.
  • Assembly, integration and test for the DRS terminal on a European LEO Remote Earth sensing satellite.
  • CCD Devive Procurement management for a star-tracker application.

  • Definition of payload operations and in-orbit test plans for various spacecraft.
  • Network operations planning.
  • Preparation of Operational and Ground Software Requirements for the K-TV spacecraft.

  • Evaluation of proposal for global satellite monitoring system for INMARSAT.
  • Evaluation of proposals for follow-on EUTELSAT II spacecraft.

  • Provision of the Orion F2 project field office, under contract to Telesat Canada.
  • Prepare risk analysis, budgets, schedules and manpower plans for the MSAT spacecraft AIT program.
